Hello Sankofa United Families: 

 

As I reflect on 2021, I am so proud of our students and school community. We will discuss significant academic gains at tonight’s School Site Council meeting (details below.) We have also come a long way as a community uniting through complex and challenging times.  Please take a moment to read the important information below about events this week and next month.

 

Winter Vacation begins Monday.  Our last day of school for 2021 is this Friday, December 17. We return to school Monday, January 3rd. During the break, please have your child continue a routine of daily independent reading and iReady, as well as other suggestions from your child’s teacher.

 

Picture Day is back!  Each child will have their picture this Thursday. There is no charge to sit for the picture. Information about ordering pictures will be sent home with our children.  Smile!

 

A special gift from Steph & Ayesha Curry will be going home with all students Friday!  :-)

 

Covid-19 & Flu Safety:

Flu & Vaccine Clinic: We will host our 2nd Covid-19 Vaccine Clinic for students and family/community members the Monday we return from our Winter Break, January 3rd.  The Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine will be available as well as the flu vaccine.  (It is OK to get them both together.)  Here is what is available:

• Flu vaccine for any child or adult.

• 1st Covid shot for any child (5 years+) or adult.

• 2nd Covid shot for anyone who was vaccinated at our first clinic OR elsewhere if you received the Pfizer vaccine.

• Booster (3rd shot) for any adult who has had their 1st and 2nd Pfizer vaccine

Take home tests are again going home over the holidays. Please follow the instructions to administer and report your child’s results twice during this break

 

Pooled testing: Our “pooled” testing has again been postponed. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it will start Tuesday, January 4th. School Site Council: Our monthly School Site Council (SSC) is tonight (Wednesday, Dec 14) at 6:00 PM on Zoom at www.tinyurl.com/SankofaZoom .  Please join us. We will offer a first glimpse at some very promising mid-year academic data.  We will also have important conversations about our 2022-23 budget and School Site Plan

 

Parent Teacher Association (PTA): Is this Thursday (Dec 15) at 6:00 PM and virtually at www.tinyurl.com/SankofaZoom

 

Enrollment: Thanks to everyone for passing on the word about our 2022-23 enrollment tours! Our first in-person and virtual tours were well attended.  We have another virtual tour this Thursday at 5 PM and a number of tours scheduled in January.  Please pass on the word to neighbors and friends.
