Sankofa United is committed to fostering an environment in which every child thrives, and our PTA centers community-building over fundraising as much as possible. We turn to our network of neighbors, parents, family and friends in support of that goal. Sankofa United is at an exciting place in its history. Every child at Sankofa United has a weekly art class with our on-campus instructor, Mary Lawrence, in our dedicated arts room. Additionally, Ms. Lawrence provides professional development instruction and support for teachers integrating arts into the classroom. We are thrilled to think of our kids engaged in tactile projects in a supportive, creative environment after a year at home.

This arts program accounts for a large portion of the Sankofa United PTA budget. In 2022 we also approved significant support for academic mentors in classrooms. The rest of our of fundraising goes to support school events, to make sure every student has what they need to thrive, to lift up individual classrooms and to send classes on field trips. Every dollar counts--we appreciate your support of our kids!
